At the inauguration. Anders Ågren, commissioner Umeå municipality, Hans van Waayenburg, CEO Sogeti Europe, Per Adolfsson, CEO Microsoft Sweden, and Stefan Ek, Tomas Agerberg and Anders Forsberg, from Sogeti.

The head of Microsoft in Sweden as well as the CEOs for Sogeti’s European and Swedish divisions were all in attendance for the inauguration of Sogeti Center of Microsoft Excellence.

With the investment in a Center of Microsoft Excellence, Sogeti’s Umeå office plans to strengthen their position in the field of Microsoft-based IT solutions. Today, Microsoft has a number of different platforms for different systems and operations, and for a company or an organization to have the overview and knowledge within the company to be able to handle the different platforms can be difficult.

With this new center, Sogeti can gather their expertise in the field in a more comprehensible way and offer solutions for platforms such as SharePoint Server, BizTalk, SQL Server, Windows Phone and Dynamics AX.

- We currently have 50 Microsoft experts here in Umeå, and we will increase this number to 60. That means that we can offer a seamless concept for all Microsoft platforms. As a client it can be difficult to know how to piece everything together in the best possible manner, but through our experts we can help, says Tomas Agerberg, director of the newly inaugurated center in Umeå.

- We will also be able to offer better cloud solutions with the help of Microsoft, Agerberg adds.

Investing in a Microsoft center in Umeå is important to be able to continue growing, according to Sogeti. That was also apparent to the 130 guests since the CEOs for both Sogeti and Microsoft wanted the honor of cutting the ribbon. Per Adolfsson, CEO of Microsoft Sweden participated, as did Sogeti’s European director Hans van Waayenburg and the CEO of Sogeti in Sweden, Stefan Ek.

Successful branch

- This is one of our most successful branches. During my visit here I have seen for myself how the Umeå office has an excellent contact with their clients. I also know that there’s a very strong team here, with skilled people; says Sogeti’s European CEO Hans van Waayenburg, who had traveled from Holland to participate in client visits and ensuing festivities.

Per Adolfson, CEO of Microsoft Sweden, agrees and stresses that he is impressed by operations at Sogeti in Umeå.

- I’ve also had the privilege of meeting some of Sogeti’s clients here today, which was very impressive and interesting. I have extremely high hopes for Sogeti here in Umeå, as well as for the Microsoft platform.

Creating growth in Umeå

As the representative for the municipality of Umeå, commissioner Anders Ågren participated in the inauguration. He stressed that ventures like this create new jobs in the region, which in turn contributes to growth. But he also spoke of the importance of demonstrating Umeå’s importance as an IT region.

- Ventures like this are needed to bring Umeå forward. Umeå is way ahead of the curve as an IT region with good companies and a strong university. This venture is an example of the good things born in this region, commented Anders Ågren, himself an avid user of the web’s opportunities in social media.

After the traditional ribbing cutting ceremony with accompanying speech, Anders Forsberg, regional manager of Sogeti Norr, invited all guests to enjoy the buffet and the music show presented by Levettes.
